Florida Fresh

Fresh From Florida Recipe

It’s so appropriate that strawberries are in season right around February, because what is better than strawberries and chocolate for Valentine’s Day?! Probably nothing! Chocolate and strawberries are a winning combination any time of the year, but there is just something about that treat that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy for Valentine’s Day.

Fresh From Florida Strawberry Season

This Fresh From Florida recipe inspired me to recreate my own Chocolate Covered Strawberry smoothie that I’ll probably be sipping now until V-Day…the candy is already in stores, so that’s fine right? ?

Strawberry season in Florida is happening right now! Did you know that Florida is the second largest producer of strawberries in the country? We do more than just citrus! ?

Strawberries in season from November-April, but peak around February-March, meaning they are fresh, flavorful, and super cheap! Eating seasonally is da bomb.

Florida Strawberry Season

Strawberries are a big deal in Central Florida, especially since most of the sweet berries are grown in Plant City, Florida (just about an hour outside of Orlando). There’s even a huge month long festival celebrating the sweet fruit.

Next time you’re at your grocery store, checkout where your strawberries are from-chances are they’re from Plant City!

With strawberries in abundance around here, I try to stock up at farmers markets to create lots of strawberry inspired recipes. My local farmers market has this huge carton of berries for $12! After hitting the market Sunday morning, I clean and prep all the berries and portion them out for snacks throughout the week!

If you’re worried about such a large quantity going bad quickly, freeze the fruit in small portions for make ahead smoothie packs!

I adapted the Fresh From Florida recipe a little bit for this post. I swapped cocoa powder for chocolate syrup and added protein powder to make it a little more filling. Both recipes are delish and good for you but tastes like an indulgent dessert! I’ll be making these to hit the sweet spot when I need a sweet chocolatey treat, especially as we get close to V-Day! ?

Fall Porch Decorating Under $100

Since we are officially in the autumn season and Halloween is right around the corner, I wanted to share how I put together a festive fall entryway for less than $100!

After browsing the gorgeous photos of fall porches on Pinterest, I was quickly inspired to recreate a look for my own entryway. One thing I loved in my inspiration photos were the rich colors of fall, so I knew I had to incorporate the burnt oranges, crisp reds, and golden yellows into my decor.

I always associate mushrooms with warm comforting winter foods, but did you know this versatile veggie is in season year round in Florida? While browsing appetizer recipes on, I came across the in season now section and decided stuffed mushrooms are always a delicious compliment to cocktail hour. I wanted something that was light and healthy, but something that still packed a lot of flavor, so I knew the Florida Mushrooms stuffed with spinach and feta would be betta (I couldn’t resist) for my Mom’s birthday celebration!
