Allow Me to (Re)Introduce Myself

My About Me page DESPERATELY needed an update…I don’t think I’ve made an edit to that page since, like, day 1 of my blog…oops…

So here we go… Allow me to reintroduce myself… πŸ™‚

Hi! I’m Jackie, a new mom, marathoner, student of dietetics, and lover of all things health, fitness, and living in the sunny state of Florida!

Welcome to my blog!

Fresh Fit Florida follows my adventures in (new) motherhood, running, trying all sorts of fun fitness things, healthy eating, cake devouring, and of course being a tourist where I live.

I started my health journey in 2012 during a time I really need to find myself and work on me. I hit my neighborhood gym’s treadmill and just ran until I couldn’t. Somewhere during this time, I decided to register for the Princess Half Marathon at Disney for 2013. That was back in the day when you didn’t need to register at 12pm on the dot!

I fell in love with running and competing that half marathon was my proudest accomplishment. I even ran a half marathon before ever doing a 5k!

Just before that race, at the end of 2012, I met my now husband, Brian. We moved in together that summer and got our first baby, Macy.

He proposed that fall on a Caribbean cruise and we got married in 2014. We just had our first baby, Reagan, in December of 2016!

I started blogging in 2015 as a way to share healthy recipes, cute workout clothes, my marathon training progress, and to share foods coming from the wonderful state of FL #eatlocal ! I also enjoy writing about anything and everything in between and over my blogging journey have learned you don’t specifically need a niche. I love connecting with others and sharing on their health journeys and swapping advice along the way.

So that’s a lil bit about me…I’d love to hear more about you…so introduce yourself in the comments!

  1. Hey Jackie, your blog looks nice!! I’m a first time Mom myself trying to get in shape to keep up with my busy 3 year old lol

    1. Thank you Acasha! Ahh it can be so hectic and tough..I get it!

  2. So nice to get to know more about you. I really want to do a Disney race sometime! Crazy how far in advance you have to sign up.

    1. I know!! Definitely a great destination race…let me know if you ever signup..we can meet up! πŸ™‚

  3. I love the name Reagan! Its high on my girl list πŸ™‚

    1. Aww thank you!! Do you know what you’re having?? Have you announced the gender? I can’t remember if I’ve read that before..

  4. Well, hello there! Nice to meet you!
I grew up on the NC coast and I wish I still lived near a beach. I love the ocean, the beach, paddle boarding, and the like.

    1. Thanks Kristin! Nice to meet you too! πŸ™‚ Living near the beach is so great! Paddle boarding is my favorite! Where do you live now?

  5. Nice to e-meet you! I’m also a mom and blog about fashion and beauty!

    1. Hi Yana! Nice to e-meet you as well! Love your blog!

  6. Love this. And now you made me look at my own about page. Oh my….yeah. I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.

    1. Thanks Laina! I left it neglected for too long, so it felt good to redo it! πŸ™‚

  7. Nice to meet you Jackie! I am a retired grandmother of 5 living in MD. Started blogging when I retired close to 2 years ago. And I love it.

    1. Thank you Renee! Nice to meet you as well! πŸ™‚ That is so 5 grandkids! So fun!

  8. You went to the gym and ran “until you couldn’t” anymore? Girl, you’re my hero! If I did that, my story would translate differently – I’d likely be carried out on a stretcher.

No, seriously, I need to do something similar. I won’t do the gym, but you’ve confirmed that I need to just “jump” back into fitness. So, I’ll start today with an exercise video I used to love. It will at the very least get me moving again.:)

    Thanks, Jackie!

    1. Wow, so kind..thank you Teri! Haha too funny…you are stronger than you know! Good for you!

  9. You live a rather plentiful life. Good for you on your health strides. I love that you run too. Very cool. Beautiful dog and baby. I have to get to Florida some day. Would rather the warm weather than the snow.

    1. Thank you Stephanie!!

  10. Loved getting to know you and your little girl!

    1. Thank you so much Emily! πŸ™‚

  11. I love your new about me! I’ve been thinking about doing the Princess Half next year… is it worth it?? I didn’t realize it’s so competitive to get a spot!

    1. Thank you Rebecca!! Yes I think it’s definitely worth it to do at least one Disney race once! It’s such an experience and they put on such a good race! You definitely have to be ready to register at 12pm on the dot, but it’s gotten a little easier in recent years I think! You’ll have to let me know if you do one!

  12. Congrats on the baby! I’ve completed one half and that was before kids. I don’t know where I would find the time to train now!

    1. Thank you so much! Yeah, it’s definitely tricky to fit in time for training..I feel ya there!

  13. wow good for you for racing!! I’m kind of jealous you love in Florida because it’s snowy and cold where I am right now! lol

    1. Thank you Lisa!! Ahh where are you from?? I don’t miss the cold at all! I’m originally from MA!

  14. You’ve inspired me to update my about me section too! I enjoyed learning about you! I’m a newbie travel and lifestyle blogger from NYC, but currently living in NC

    1. Thanks Jewels! Glad I could help! πŸ™‚ That’s awesome..what part??

  15. Hi, Jackie! As a mom of a thirty-year-old daughter, I can’t tell you how much you are going to enjoy that baby girl! Enjoy every moment and every stage! It seems like you blink and they are all grown-up. Everyone will want to give you advice which is nice, but not always helpful. Just do what your gut tells you. I often said to my daughter as she got older she was going to have to help me out because I had never been the mom to a six-year-old or 13 year old….and now a 30-year-old. We have a close relationship, and I am blessed beyond words by her life.

    1. Sheila, thank you so much!! Having her has just been the most fun thing! And the best advice I’ve gotten is to listen to my gut and follow my instincts! It works! πŸ™‚

  16. Haha another person crazy enough to do a half before ever doing a 5K! Yes! I ran my first half in fall 2014 and am training for half #5 now. I’d love to do a full eventually but I’m not sure I can commit the proper amount of time to it right now. Especially those long runs…whew! Until then I’ll keep chasing the PRs on those 13.1 runs πŸ˜€

    1. Haha happy to meet another runner who’s done the same! πŸ˜‰ Training for a full is no joke! It takes up a huge amount of time! I’m happy to be back to focusing on 13.1s again! πŸ™‚
